Co-President
DeWayne A. Powell brings decades of multidisciplinary experience to the Clarion Concerts Board of Trustees. A former practicing attorney, he has spent more than 40 years working across litigation and corporate law, the music and fashion industries, and real estate, developing deep expertise as a negotiator and strategic advisor.
Currently a Realtor with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, Powell divides his time between Washington Heights in New York City and a mid-19th-century farmhouse in Ghent, New York. A committed civic volunteer, he previously served for many years on the boards of the Hudson Area Library and Perfect Ten After School, Inc., contributing leadership in governance, fundraising, and community engagement.
A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Powell is a graduate of Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and Boston College Law School. An avid traveler with a passion for cultural exchange—especially Brazilian culture—he is deeply committed to advancing Clarion’s mission to champion and showcase Black composers and performers in the chamber music space.
