Music has been a thread running through Elizabeth Davis’s life and career. She trained in keyboard instruments, including piano, organ and harpsichord from childhood.  Additional professional training included graduate degrees in Musicology (NYU) and Librarianship (Indiana University).

Davis has served on the boards of several music information projects, including RISM - Répertoire International des Sources Musicales and RILM Index to Scores and Collected Editions (RISE), formerly the Index to Printed Music (IPM).

For 30 years Davis headed the Music & Arts Library at Columbia University, from which she recently retired, and held previous positions at The Morgan Library and Museum, St. John’s University Library, and the Music Editorial Department at W. W. Norton & Company.
